Seal Rock Recreation Site (or Seal Rock Beach) located near Newport, Oregon, is known for it’s seals, seagulls, tidal pools, and large rock formations. A beautiful path meanders through coastal trees before angling down towards the small beach.
After using Google Earth to study several Oregon beaches, I knew this is exactly where we would head for Chelsea and Nick’s maternity session.
Couples tend to shy away from maternity sessions and it’s no surprise. With the number of cheesy maternity photos found on Pinterest, it’s little wonder some people are turned off by the thought. But here’s your PSA: maternity sessions don’t have to be cheesy! I tend to photograph maternity sessions the same way I photograph any normal lifestyle session. The only difference? I’m a little more careful when it comes to active posing. I mean, you probably don’t want to be slung over someone’s shoulder and spun around while 8 months pregnant, huh) and, you’re going to touch your belly…a lot. But other than that, it’s business as usual!
Chelsea and Nick, being from California, decided a maternity session at Seal Rock Beach was the way to go. They showed up wearing clothes that not only showcased their personalities but matched the colors of the sunset perfectly.
We met at sunset and enjoyed an incredible golden hour at one of Oregon’s many scenic beaches. And guess what, not a single heart was created over her belly.
