Do I even have to say where Hailey and Steven’s engagement session took place? Even non-Oregonians recognize Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock thanks to The Goonies (and instagram).
Easy to access, gorgeous sunsets, beautiful rock formations, it’s easy to see why an engagement session at Cannon Beach results in incredible photos and why I just HAD to visit on my final day in Oregon last August.
Prior to moving to the Albany area, I flew out in both May and August to set up multiple shoots. I get it, it’s tough to book a photographer for a specific area if said photographer has never shot there before. Even though I had visited Oregon many times prior to moving, I had only ever shot at Silver Falls. I knew I had to up my street cred and get some Oregon shoots under my belt.
Enter Hailey and Steven. Last minute additions to a full week of shooting.
The amazing thing about working with couples all over the country is the number of connections you make. On my first trip out in May, I photographed Marcella and Sam at Sahalie Falls. Marcella just happens to be the older sister of Hailey! One thing led to another and before I knew it, Marcella had put me in touch with her little sister and her fiance.
Hailey and Steven were getting married later in the year and were totally game to being my models one evening. It ended up being a win-win all around. They got to practice being in front of a camera before their wedding day, received free photos and I lived out a dream of finally shooting at Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach! It literally could not have worked out any better and I can check another iconic Oregon location off the list.
