Upper Saranac Lake weddings are one-of-a-kind. Typically overshadowed by popular wedding destination, Lake Placid, weddings in Saranac Lake are in a class of their own.
Alyssa grew up vacationing at a family cabin on Upper Saranac Lake. While it’s no longer in her family, the location (and the Adirondacks in general) played a pretty significant role in her upbringing. Her Australian partner, Lars, did not have the same childhood experience, but he does love water. As a result, an Adirondack wedding on the waters of Upper Saranac Lake was truly a match made in heaven.
Enter ADK Camp Iroquois, a prestigious family compound styled after the Great Camps of the Adirondacks. With several large cabins and a variety of “sleeping cabins,” many of Alyssa and Lars’ guests were able to stay right onsite, cultivating the warm and welcoming atmosphere they so craved on their wedding day.
“The coming together of our disparate friends and family to not only bear witness to but to uphold and individually and communally invest in our union,” was of utmost importance to both Alyssa and Lars. Community was important to them and fostering that community, even on their wedding day, was always at the forefront of their minds.
With no wedding party (anyone was free to visit and get ready with them!), a long cocktail hour, and plenty of intimate nooks, Adirondack chairs, and a bonfire to cozy on up to, their celebration celebrated community. And their community celebrated them.
